Do you remember the 21st night of September?!
Ally and Rich Kurtz were married on the 21st of September in Langeloth, PA. (About 30 minutes
outside of Pittsburgh, PA.) It was another hot wedding day, but Ally’s glow was coming from within! I stopped at the reception hall on the way to Ally for some photos before anyone arrived. Ally and her girls got ready in her grandmother’s house, which is just up the road from her house. You could just feel the love radiating through this close-knit family.
While grabbing some getting ready images, Ally shared something really special with me. Her grandmother, whom she calls Oni, has photos along her fireplace mantel of all the family weddings from generations passed. And soon, photos from this special day were going to join them! Ally shared a few tender moments with Oni, which also brought a few laughs. The Flower Girl (the daughter of the Maid of Honor and the Best Man) looked adorable in her dress! I was able to capture some precious moments between her and her Aunt Ally having fun and being goofy. Ally also gifted Veronica a special present, bringing on some tears from the girls!
When I arrived at Rich and Ally’s house, where Rich and the guys got ready, we realized the best man’s shirt was tearing! We couldn’t find anything to fix it with the limited time we had, so we strategically hid it in all the photos. Can you spot it anywhere?? We also wanted to get some photos with Rich and his cat, but the poor thing was terrified and hid under the bed the whole time.
Leading up to the wedding, we joked that the theme became supporting small business: my mom made the wedding cupcakes, the DJ was the same one both Amanda and I had used, the venue was a small local hall, caterers were from Hickory, and me!
One of the best parts of this wedding was that I knew almost everyone there–even my dog’s vet was there! The perks of growing up in a small town! (I grew up across the street from this venue!)
Once they were finished getting ready, it was time to head to the Langeloth Community Hall and make things official! The Maid of Honor’s father officiated the wedding, giving a beautiful speech and vows for the new couple. Go Pat!!
You could FEEL the love in the room during their wedding ceremony. It was just perfect. We then headed to Pat’s farm down the road for the formal photos.
The farm was the perfect location for these photos! That late September afternoon light was incredible, and the property itself is just gorgeous. I'll let these photos speak for themselves.
Back at the hall for the reception, emotions were high and warm as Ally shared her first dance with her mother and brothers. I have done this a long time–I’m typically good at holding back tears while these dances happen. But when her brothers started tearing up and the three of them held onto each other, I may have shed a few tears. Rich danced with his mother and then shared a dance with his bride and opening up the dancefloor, which was occupied all night long!
The dance floor opened with “September,” the only acceptable thing to do with that wedding date! I took a polaroid camera with me and snagged some shots throughout the day. Near the end of the evening, I gathered some “end of the night” things and did flatlay with them and the polaroids. It was such a fun addition to the day and felt truly candid! One snap and time to move on.
I was both a guest and the photographer, so I was able to put my camera down and dance with my friends and my husband for a while! In 2024, I actually took a break from photographing weddings full-time. The incredible privilege of capturing Ally and Rich’s wedding day was one of my first weddings back full time!
Here’s to Mr. and Mrs. Kurtz!!
